In a move which embodies the spirit of international cooperation outlined by the UN climate summit underway in South Africa, Britain’s Environment Secretary has pledged over $15 million to fight deforestation in Brazil. “A Brighter Summer Day,” the director Edward Yang’s chronicle of disaffected youth in Taiwan in 1960, seethes with the spirit of confused, ardent rebellion. Back in 2005 Collin reported on Reishee Sowa and his floating island made from a quarter of a million used pop bottles. An admiring Collin wrote “While we aren’t sure we’ll be able to solve the world’s problems by building floating islands from recycled pop bottles, it’s the spirit of his work that we like best. He’s able to live self-sufficiently in his own version of paradise, and that sounds pretty good to us.” Alas, in 2007 we reported that Reishee lost his island to a hurricane and had to start all over TreeHugger was founded almost six years ago by Graham Hill in order to show that “being green” was not just for the stereotypical hippie environmentalist crowd. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!) But it could be so much more. Now, we’re pleased to announce that we’re expanding our reach even further with the launch of TreeHugger TV ! And OK, I admit it, I’m a sucker for anything with ruffles, a detail Kicky Pants lavishes upon its darling rompers, layered dresses, and poofy skirts just made for swishing from side to side in.
