We’ve noted that utilities in California are struggling to meet ambitious renewable-energy requirements, but Pacific Gas & Electric is going to really great lengths. Cassandra Sweet from Dow Jones Newswires reports : The utility, owned by PG&E Corp., has asked state regulators for permission to sign a contract with stealth startup Solaren Corp. of Southern California, to purchase up to 200 megawatts of solar power beamed to earth from space.
